About Nicole

Nicole Piller is a Pilates and Yoga teacher, Pilates Teacher Trainer, Franklin Method Educator, and Reiki Practitioner based in Toronto, Canada with a career spanning over 3 decades of experience in movement education / body work.  Her long involvement with movement began as a classical ballet dancer as a young girl.  She hung up her pointe shoes in 1991 after a graduate year at The Royal Winnipeg Ballet School, and went on to completing BA at McGill University and two years at George Brown Theater School where she had weekly classes in movement and kinesthetic awareness.

Nicole initially came to Pilates following a dance injury and then completed the comprehensive certification program at Stott Pilates in 2001, followed by four years of study in Mat, Reformer, Chair, and rehabilitation with Master Teacher Dianne Miller.  Alongside Pilates, Nicole has been practicing yoga since her early 20’s, and completed two year comprehensive yoga certification at Esther Myers Yoga Studio in addition to her pre and post-natal yoga training.  She has also studied yoga on-going with Peter Blackaby, renowned Yoga teacher and Osteopath from England who has been one of the founders of “Humanistic Yoga”.

After years of immersing herself in the Franklin Method, Nicole completed the Franklin Method Level 1 Teacher Training in Toronto with Eric Franklin and Morten Dithmer in 2015.  The Franklin Method is experiential anatomy through movement and imagery training the body to move effectively and efficiently. The Franklin Method is a large influence in all her teachings with clients as well as in her personal practice and in life.

Additionally, Nicole has studied Myofascial Stretching and ELDOA’s with Osteopath Guy Voyer, and she completed her First and Second Degree Reiki training (Usui lineage: Usui, Hyashi, Takata, Furamoto, Levin, Sacco), and is a Reiki practitioner who brings Reiki healing into all her work.

Nicole brings an in-depth knowledge of anatomy to her work focusing on alignment, kinesthetic awareness, and breath.  She provides a safe environment and encourages learning, exploration, growth and guides her students to become their own teachers and healers.  Her passion for movement and healing is infectious and infused with kindness and humour.

In addition to being a teacher/healer, Nicole is a lifelong student, mother, and clown.  Nicole’s clown “Countess Von Tilda Von Schiffenberg the Third” was tickled pink to obtain a spot in Cirque de Soleil’s “Artist Bank”.  She has yet to run away with the circus….
